TEACHING INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS STRATEGY

DATE: Saturday, July 27, 2024
TIME: 4.30PM to 7.30 PM IST

Background:

Firms, in their urge to broaden business scope, internationalise operations and often tend to face strategic complexities. Such “strategic” and “organizational” challenges obstruct their competitiveness in the international markets. It has become more chaotic post pandemic and with increased regional tensions. Strategic considerations while going beyond home country, configuring’ and ‘coordinating’ business activities, roles of foreign subsidiaries, cross-border strategic alliances etc are some of the decisions which an organisation must take while internationalising. It has become essential for any programme in international business to address such strategic issues. The relevance of these issues are further heightened by the east-west divide, global value chain, emergence of global protectionism, the Korean disturbances, digital terrorism,  ESG compliances etc.

Workshop Focus:

The programme aims to provide insights on

a) The demarcating aspects of strategy of firms when involved in international aspects.

b) Course design and teaching of International Business Strategy course as a core/elective course.

c) Integrating the International Business Strategy course into the programme curriculum – Issues & Dilemma

d) Model course curriculum and pedagogic features.

e) Evaluation, output, and outcomes..
