“AIB INDIA Annual Chapter Conference is now online!
Host Institute: Indian Institute of Management, Visakhapatnam
Government declared its commitment to making India a USD 5 trillion economy by 2024-25. The ambitious target of doubling the country’s GDP in less than five years is challenging. In order to fulfill this vision, Indian industry – be it in manufacturing or services, needs to step up growth and rapidly create employment opportunities.
International business will play a significant role in enabling and sustaining this aspirational growth. Indian multinationals or emerging country multinationals or EMNEs (as they are popularly known), have already made a mark for themselves
in the global business environment. Be it pharmaceutical companies, leading Indian Business Houses or new age IT companies, Indian EMNE success stories are the preferred case studies in B-schools across the world. Now the time has come to replicate these successes stories on a much wider scale and make Indian EMNEs the drivers of the economic growth in India.
Followed the AIB India Conference, the AIB-India Chapter has scheduled aIBS Case Workshop by Professor Debapratim Purkayastha, DirectorCase Research Centre, IBS Hyderabad on 21st December 2020. This is followed by the Paper Development Workshop (AIB-India PDW) on 22nd December 2020.The purpose of the AIB-India PDW is to provide junior scholars with developmental feedback on their current research projects related to international business and to improve the quality of IB research and bring new scholars into the field.
Webinar on Changing Scenario of International Business – Impact of COVID – 19
Date: June 18th, 2020
Host: Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), Chennai
Presently, the consequences of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak are unprecedented and felt around the world. World trade is expected to fall by between 13% and 32% in 2020 as the COVID 19 pandemic disrupts normal economic activity and life around the world. We were already seeing the push fro decoupling in some sectors, and notably at the national scale between the United States and China.
Globalization and this pandemic may enable a transition to distributed manufacturing models and rethinking global supply chains. We could see manufacturing jobs come back to countries from China; less offshoring to places with the only benefit being low-cost labour and products now made closer to populations with density in cities.
