In the era of globalization, multinational companies can no longer develop strategies on a country-by-country basis. As an increasing number of South Asian firms compete in the global marketplace as well as face competition from foreign companies investing in South Asian markets.

Workshop focus:

The programme aims to provide

1) How to design and teach International Business Strategy for an elective in a business school as well as in economics, political science and other areas

2) How international business differs from domestic business

3) Variants of international business courses

4) Examples of IB syllabi from leading business schools around the world

5) Selected powerpoint slides from courses on International Business

Target Audience:

Faculty members who are currently teaching International Business as well those who are aspiring to teach International Business in degree granting programmes.

Date: August 28, 2021

Time: 6.00PM – 9.00PM  IST (8.30am – 11.30am EST)

The sessions will be delivered as Live Online over the Zoom platform. Given the online session, participants must be equipped with the requisite level of Internet connectivity. Participants are also required to turn the video on during the session as this helps to create a learning environment that is quite similar to a face-to-face class

Preparation:

Participants are requested to review the IB syllabi be shared by the instructor. Also, send in advance to the instructor your own syllabus if you have one

Professor George S. Yip is Emeritus Professor of Marketing and Strategy at Imperial College Business School. He is a distinguished Visiting Professor at D’Amore-McKim School of Business, NortheastVern University. He is a fellow of the Academy of International Business. “Thinkers50” Hall of Fame. He is on the editorial Advisory Boards of California Management Review and MIT Sloan Management Review. He is the Chair of Research Advisory Committee of SKEMA Business School (France). Professor George S. Yip’s  previous academic positions include Professor of Strategy and Co-Director of the Centre on China Innovation at China Europe International Business School; Dean of Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University; and Harvard, Georgetown (visiting), UCLA, Stanford (visiting), Oxford (visiting), Cambridge Judge (Beckwith Professor of Marketing and Strategy), London Business School (Professor and Associate Dean, MBA), and Lead Senior Fellow of the UK’s Advanced Institute of Management Research.

Professor George S. Yip’s previous business positions include VP and Director of Research & Innovation at Capgemini Consulting, senior manager at Price Waterhouse (USA), manager at Unilever, and various boards

Professor George S. Yip is the author or co-author of Pioneers, Hidden Champions, Change Makers and Underdogs: Lessons From China’s Innovators (2019), China’s Next Strategic Advantage: From Imitation to Innovation (2016), Strategic Transformation (2013), Managing Global Customers (2007), Asian Advantage: Key Strategies for Winning in the Asia-Pacific Region (1998), and Total Global Strategy (1992 and 2012). He has over 100 publications and 12,000 citations.
